Where it came from
Released during the late 1970s on the French label Disc' O Rouet, this record belongs to a specialized niche of regional folk music documentation. Loïc Valdor was a performer and accordionist dedicated to preserving the traditional dance repertoires of Brittany, a region with a deeply distinct musical heritage. This specific volume served as both an educational tool for dance enthusiasts and a nostalgic collection of functional music intended to accompany local fest-noz gatherings.
The album's design reflects the standard aesthetic of regional independent label production from that era, prioritizing clarity and functional utility over high-concept graphic design. The cover often features minimalist imagery or photography intended to ground the listener in the specific cultural context of the Breton landscape. While these releases were not designed for mass commercial success, they were well-received within the localized folk revival movement, serving as essential reference points for those wishing to learn or practice traditional steps.
