Kill Yourself XIII-XVI

The Kill Yourself XIII-XVI EPs, released in 2021 as part of the ongoing KYS saga by the New Orleans duo $uicideboy$, represent a continuation of the underground rap project's signature dark aesthetic. These EPs emerged from the group’s self-managed G59 Records label, maintaining their history of independent distribution that first garnered attention through platforms like SoundCloud. The series was designed to explore themes of nihilism and personal struggle, reflecting the artists' roots in the underground scene and their commitment to a raw, lo-fi aesthetic that defined their meteoric rise.

The design of these EPs serves the cohesive, cult-like identity the duo crafted since their inception in 2014. By self-releasing these tracks, $uicideboy$ opted for a direct-to-fan approach that bypassed traditional industry gatekeepers. The releases were received as a solidification of the duo’s brand, praised by their dedicated following for maintaining the bleak, atmospheric production style—often utilizing occult-tinged samples and aggressive, distorted bass—that originally set them apart from mainstream hip-hop contemporaries.
