Klavierkonzert B-dur = Piano Concerto In B Flat Major KV 595 / Konzert Für Zwei Klaviere Es-dur = Concerto For Two Pianos In E Flat Major KV 365

Released in 1974 by Deutsche Grammophon, this recording features the Wiener Philharmoniker under the baton of Karl Böhm. The album captures a deeply collaborative performance of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 27 in B-flat major, KV 595, and the Concerto for Two Pianos in E-flat major, KV 365, with Emil Gilels joined by his daughter, Elena Gilels. These sessions are celebrated for their refined interpretation of Mozart's late style, showcasing the nuanced, crystalline touch that became a hallmark of Gilels’ later career.

The production reflects the high standards of the Deutsche Grammophon label during the 1970s, which emphasized tonal warmth and clear balance. The design follows the classic, austere aesthetic of the label’s era, typically featuring a stark presentation that keeps the focus on the prestige of the conductor and the soloist. Critics at the time praised the recording for its structural clarity and the familial rapport between the two pianists, establishing it as a definitive interpretation in the catalog of both the soloists and the Vienna Philharmonic.
