Klavierkonzert C-dur Kv 467 / Konzert Für 2 Klaviere Und Orchester Es-dur Kv 365

This Deutsche Grammophon release, catalog number 2535 744, pairs two of Mozart's celebrated concertos: the Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, K. 467, and the Concerto for Two Pianos in E-flat major, K. 365. These recordings capture the refined, objective aesthetic of mid-twentieth-century European classical performance. Deutsche Grammophon established itself during this era as a standard-bearer for high-fidelity classical recording, frequently utilizing the Berlin Philharmonic and leading soloists to define the 'DG sound'—characterized by balanced acoustics and meticulous orchestral clarity.

The performances feature Andor Foldes and Carl Seemann, pianists who were instrumental in maintaining the intellectual rigor of the German classical tradition. Andor Foldes, particularly known for his refined Mozart interpretations, was frequently lauded for his rhythmic precision and structural awareness. In this pressing, the label presents these concertos as part of their heritage catalog, reflecting an era where the focus remained on the interplay between crystalline piano articulation and traditional symphonic accompaniment, catering to a post-war audience that valued both historical continuity and high-quality studio production.
