Konzert Für 4 Cembali In a-moll, Konzert Für 2 Cembali In c-moll, Konzert Für 3 Cembali In C-dur

This recording features J.S. Bach's concertos for multiple harpsichords, works originally adapted by the composer from his own violin concertos and those of Vivaldi. These pieces were transcribed to showcase the growing technical capabilities of the keyboard, specifically the harpsichord, during the mid-18th century, serving as both pedagogical exercises for his sons and virtuosic displays for performance at the Collegium Musicum in Leipzig.

The Concert Hall label, which released this specific pressing under catalog number SMS-2470, was a prominent mail-order record club during the mid-20th century. By engaging the Jerusalem Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Mendi Rodan, the production sought to provide accessible, high-fidelity interpretations of the Baroque canon for a global audience of home listeners, reflecting the era's post-war push toward making classical music repertoire widely available through subscription-based distribution.
