Konzert Für Klavier Und Orchester Nr. 22 Es-Dur Kv 482 / Konzert-Rondo Für Klavier Und Orchester Nr. 1 D-Dur Kv 382

This 1972 pressing from His Master's Voice features Daniel Barenboim conducting the English Chamber Orchestra from the piano, a hallmark of his approach to Mozart’s concertos during that period. Released as part of a larger cycle, this recording reflects the mid-20th-century trend of the soloist-conductor, emphasizing a unified and intimate interpretation of Mozart's Es-Dur concerto, one of the composer's most expansive and technically demanding works for the instrument.

The album serves as a document of Barenboim's long-standing affinity for the Classical repertoire. The design aesthetic follows the classic EMI/HMV archival style, utilizing minimalist typography and formal photography to signal the serious, scholarly nature of the performance. Upon its release, these interpretations were widely regarded by critics for their expressive depth and the fluid communication between Barenboim and the English Chamber Orchestra, cementing his reputation as a definitive Mozartian of the era.
