Provenance

Where it came from

Released in 2012, this recording serves as a modern tribute to the enduring legacy of Edith Piaf, one of France’s most iconic chanteuses. It emerged within a context of renewed interest in Piaf’s catalog, functioning as a contemporary reinterpretation of her repertoire by musicians seeking to bridge the gap between traditional chanson and modern instrumental sensibilities.

The album features arrangements by Jean-Claude Ghrenassia and Régis Ceccarelli, who aimed to preserve the melancholic yet passionate spirit of the original compositions. By stripping away the period production of the mid-20th century, the project sought to highlight the structural elegance of Piaf’s most famous tracks. As a private or limited-run production, the release is a niche artifact for dedicated francophone music collectors rather than a mainstream commercial effort.
