Where it came from
Released in 1969 by the state-owned Yugoslav label Jugoton, this single reflects the regional folk music scene that thrived under the umbrella of Yugoslav popular culture during the late 1960s. Mehmed Jusić contributed to the prolific output of the label, which served as a primary platform for artists blending traditional melodic structures with the accessible, commercially oriented format of the seven-inch vinyl single.
The record stands as an example of the era's focus on intimate, lyrical themes characteristic of folk-pop compositions common to the Balkan music industry of the time. Like many releases under the SY catalog prefix, it was produced for a broad domestic audience, capturing the aesthetic sensibilities of a period where regional musicians were increasingly integrated into a national distribution network.
