Mary Elizabeth / So Is Our Song

Released in 1968 on The Hot Biscuit Disc Company, this single marks a period where the label was actively exploring the intersection of sunshine pop and emerging folk-rock arrangements. It was recorded during a brief window when the label sought to capture the breezy, harmonic vocal styles that dominated the late sixties radio landscape, aiming for a polished, radio-friendly aesthetic that prioritized orchestral flourishes alongside traditional acoustic instrumentation.

The Magic Fleet functioned primarily as a studio-based collective, often utilizing revolving session musicians to achieve a specific, layered sound designed to compete with the major label production standards of the time. While the track did not achieve significant commercial breakthrough, it remains a recognized example of the period's stylistic transition, reflecting the era's fascination with intricate vocal layering and slightly melancholic, whimsical lyricism.
