Where it came from
Released in 1965 on the independent German label Cady, this 45 RPM single represents the unique intersection of Schlager music and regional folk-pop popular in post-war West Germany. The track Oh, Mich Juckt' Se, accompanied by the B-side Jupheidi-Jupheida, was recorded by Hucky Und Die Hucky's alongside Ralf Rembold. The production reflects the lighthearted, often humorous approach to traditional alpine themes that dominated local radio and variety circuits of the mid-1960s.
The record is a hallmark of the small-label distribution model prevalent in Germany at the time, where regional artists sought to capitalize on the enduring popularity of yodeling-inflected dance music. While Hucky Und Die Hucky's remained a niche act within the broader context of European folk revivalism, their output serves as a documentary artifact of the era's regional music scene. It was designed to cater to the dance halls and local festivals of the period, emphasizing upbeat, sing-along melodies intended for casual social consumption.
