Where it came from
Pour$uite was released in 1985 on the Anya Production label, emerging during a period of vibrant experimentation within the French pop and synth-pop scene. Grégory Ken, known for his work with the duo Chagrin d'Amour, utilized this solo project to explore a stylized, urban sound that mirrored the rhythmic and electronic sensibilities dominating European charts at the time.
The record is characterized by its polished production and the characteristic vocal delivery of Ken, which blended theatricality with contemporary musical trends. While it remains a niche entry in his discography, it serves as a snapshot of mid-80s creative ambition in Paris, where artists frequently navigated the intersection of mainstream radio accessibility and the emerging influence of synthesizer-heavy arrangements.
