Where it came from
Released in 1989 on the Colombian label Colmúsica, this single features the ensemble La Orquesta Alfonso Querrero. This recording arrived during a vibrant era for Colombian dance music, as local orchestras were increasingly blending traditional tropical rhythms with the polished, sophisticated arrangements that defined the late eighties salsa and bolero landscape.
The production serves as a testament to the enduring appeal of the bolero and son cubano standards within the regional Latin music market. By reinterpreting these tracks, the ensemble aimed to capture the dance hall spirit of the time, focusing on lush brass sections and the melodic, romantic vocal style characteristic of the period's tropical ballroom scene.
