Where it came from
Released under the Sono Mundi label in the mid-1970s, this 45 RPM single captures the quintessential sound of the regional tropical and cumbia scene in Latin America during that era. Eddy Gutiérrez, backed by the Conjunto Nueva Generación, crafted these tracks to appeal to the dance-heavy social clubs and radio markets that thrived on romantic themes and infectious, horn-driven arrangements.
The sleeve design and sonic direction reflect a period when independent labels like Sono Mundi acted as vital conduits for local talent, blending traditional structures with contemporary studio production techniques. While this specific catalog number, SMN-019, remains a deep-cut obscurity for many mainstream collectors, it is held in high regard by enthusiasts of vintage cumbia and tropical rhythms for its authentic, unvarnished preservation of the era's regional artistry.
