Régle Du Jeu

Régle Du Jeu, released in 1987 by Mazeres Disques, represents a niche moment in the French independent electronic and synth-pop scene of the late eighties. The record was produced during a period when small-scale labels were experimenting with the intersection of cold wave aesthetics and dance-oriented production, providing an outlet for artists like Loïc Delviel to explore textured, atmospheric soundscapes that were distinct from the mainstream pop of the era.

The design of the release reflects the minimalist graphic tendencies of the mid-eighties underground, often emphasizing stark, abstract imagery to mirror the experimental nature of the music. Delviel, acting as both composer and primary creative force, aimed to synthesize a cerebral approach to electronic composition with the rhythmic pulse of contemporary club music. While the record remained an obscure offering at the time of its release, it has since gained recognition among collectors of rare French electronic music for its authentic period production and unique sonic identity.
