Where it came from
Rin, Tongue and Dorner was released in 2018 as part of a multimedia project conceived by Rich Shapero. The project integrates music, literature, and visual art to explore the psychological and surreal landscapes of the narrative. Shapero collaborated with the musical duo Elsiane, composed of vocalist Elsieanne Caplette and drummer Stéphane Sotto, to craft a sonic atmosphere that reflects the cryptic and visceral tone of his writing.
The production process emphasized a synthesis of genres, merging experimental trip-hop influences with atmospheric storytelling. By eschewing a traditional catalog number or barcode, the release intentionally positions itself outside of standard commercial music distribution models, prioritizing the artistic vision of the 'Too Far' imprint. The music was designed to serve as a companion piece to the literary work, aiming to immerse the audience in the specific, moody aesthetic defined by Shapero's creative direction.
