Róg Ulicy-Ja Śpiewam Piosenki - Królewna-Uciekam Przed Nocą

Released by the state-owned record label Pronit, this 7-inch extended play (EP) is a classic example of Polish popular music production from the late 1950s. The record features the Orkiestra Polskiego Radia, a highly respected ensemble, accompanying the vocalist Barbara Muszyńska in a series of light, rhythmic tracks. These releases were designed to bring accessible pop and jazz-inflected music to the Polish public during a period when the local recording industry was strictly controlled and centralized under Pronit.

The sleeve art and musical arrangements reflect the aesthetic of the era, which balanced Eastern European stylistic constraints with the burgeoning influence of Western pop melodies. Barbara Muszyńska’s performance on this EP showcases the vocal traditions favored by the Polish Radio at the time—clean, expressive, and technically precise. While intended for domestic consumption and radio play, these EPs are now highly regarded by collectors of mid-century Polish music for their archival value and their role in documenting the evolution of early post-war Polish popular culture.
