Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer

Released in 1955 as part of the RCA Victor Bluebird series, this extended play record features the instrumental trio The Three Suns. The group, known for their signature 'sun sound' characterized by the combination of accordion, guitar, and electric organ, was a staple of mid-century easy listening and pop music. This particular release served as a holiday offering, aiming to capitalize on the enduring popularity of the Rudolph character while showcasing the group's lighthearted, melodic arrangements suitable for family gatherings during the post-war suburban boom.

The design of the EPA-654 sleeve reflects the aesthetic typical of RCA Victor's mid-1950s output, emphasizing vibrant, festive graphic design intended to stand out in retail displays. While The Three Suns were prolific recording artists who achieved significant success through radio play and television appearances, this record represents a niche period of holiday marketing where established pop acts were frequently tasked with recording seasonal standards to maintain label visibility during the final quarter of the year.
