Where it came from
Run For Cover was released in 2002 on the German imprint Phono Elements, a label noted for its dedication to the intersection of deep house and minimal techno. As the seventh catalog entry, the release represents the label's commitment to the precise, atmospheric soundscapes that defined the early 2000s electronic music scene in Europe. It was created during a period when producers were increasingly experimenting with textured production techniques and understated rhythmic structures.
The record serves as a representative artifact of Holger Flinsch's contribution to the minimal house movement. Designed to function in both intimate club environments and home listening setups, the work prioritizes repetitive, hypnotic motifs over traditional song structures. Upon its release, it was regarded by enthusiasts of the genre as a functional, well-engineered addition to the Phono Elements catalog, embodying the stripped-back aesthetic favored by the label’s minimalist identity.
