Released in 1966 on the RCA Victor label, this EP captures the singular artistic vision of the French singer Stella Vander, then performing simply as Stella. The recording emerged during the height of the yé-yé movement, a period characterized by the infusion of rock and roll and pop influences into French music. Despite the era's focus on conventional pop structures, Stella’s work often leaned into a more eccentric, self-aware, and sometimes surrealistic tone that distinguished her from her contemporaries.

The title of this EP, which translates to 'If you know anything worse than a vampire, tell me about it, it might make me smile,' reflects the provocative and idiosyncratic sensibilities that would eventually lead Stella toward her later, highly experimental work with the progressive rock group Magma.
