Where it came from
Released by Life Records during the mid-20th century, this compilation captures the musical landscape of the Untertaunuskreis region in Germany. It was produced as a collaborative effort to document the localized choral traditions of seventeen distinct singing associations, serving as a cultural archive of the regional amateur music scene at the time.
The production sought to provide a comprehensive cross-section of choral performance, notably incorporating the Jagdhornbläserkorps (hunting horn ensemble) of the Untertaunus hunting association to add a specific regional aesthetic. The design and assembly reflect the mid-century German tradition of documenting communal heritage through vinyl recordings, providing listeners with a curated snapshot of the active vocal and instrumental culture within this specific rural district.
