Where it came from
Released in 1984 on the BCMK Records label, Slick Little Girl b/w Cowboys And Indians represents a niche moment in independent post-punk and new wave recording. Like many singles of its era, it was produced as a low-budget pressing intended to capture the energy of the underground club circuit, reflecting the broader DIY aesthetic that defined the mid-1980s music scene in smaller markets.
The record is credited to David Watts, a project that operated within the fringes of the evolving alternative rock landscape. The cover art and production choices were typical of the period, favoring a raw, unpolished soundscape designed for college radio airplay and local distribution, though it never achieved significant commercial reach or critical acclaim outside of its regional roots.
