Sonate Für Klavier Und Violine A-dur Op. 47 (Kreutzer-Sonate) / Sonate Für Klavier Und Violine F-dur Op. 24 (Frühlings-Sonate)

This 1965 recording, released on the phonoclub label, features siblings Yehudi and Hephzibah Menuhin performing two of Beethoven's most celebrated sonatas for violin and piano. The Kreutzer Sonata, Op. 47, is noted for its virtuosic intensity and dramatic scale, which challenged the conventions of its time, while the Frühlings-Sonate, Op. 24, remains a beloved example of the composer's lyrical, light-hearted early style.

The Menuhin siblings were internationally acclaimed for their intimate and instinctive musical rapport, having recorded these works during a period when Yehudi Menuhin was deeply engaged in exploring the nuances of the core German romantic repertoire. The release reflects the mid-century tradition of high-fidelity classical reissues intended to bring established concert hall interpretations into the private domestic sphere.
