Sonniges Burgenland / Bohemia-Polka / Brünner Spatzen / Lužánecká-Polka

Released on the Rex Roval label, this record features traditional brass music performed by the ensemble Blasmusik Bohemia, led by Helmut Schmitzberger and Peter Schafler. These tracks reflect the mid-20th-century popularity of 'Blasmusik'—a style of Central European wind and brass music rooted in regional folk traditions. The inclusion of titles like 'Sonniges Burgenland' and 'Brünner Spatzen' highlights the cultural focus on Austro-Hungarian musical heritage, intended for a domestic market that valued danceable polkas and regional anthems.

The production represents a standard approach to the brass ensemble recordings common in post-war European label catalogs. Such records were typically designed for social gatherings, beer halls, and radio airplay, aiming to capture the lively, unpretentious spirit of local brass bands. While these specific musicians maintained a niche following within the broader folk music industry, the release is characteristic of the Rex Roval label's commitment to maintaining an accessible inventory of regional instrumental music during the era.
