Suites 2 & 3 / Flute Concerto = Concerto Pour Flûte = Konzert Für Flöte / Concerto For Violin And Oboe = Concerto Pour Violon Et Hautbois = Konzert Für Violine Und Oboe

This 1986 release by Decca features The Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, led by Sir Neville Marriner, performing key instrumental works by Johann Sebastian Bach. The collection brings together the second and third orchestral suites, the flute concerto, and the double concerto for violin and oboe. During this period, Marriner and his ensemble were widely celebrated for their polished, historically informed approach to Baroque music, favoring clean textures and rhythmic vitality that became a hallmark of the ensemble's extensive discography.

The release reflects the mid-1980s trend of revitalizing the standard Bach repertoire for a modern classical audience. Produced by Decca, known for their rigorous engineering standards, the record sought to present these Baroque staples with the clarity and precision that defined the Academy's reputation. The recording was well received for its balance of academic discipline and expressive warmth, remaining a representative example of how 20th-century chamber orchestras interpreted the German Baroque canon for the digital-age listener.
