Sydän Vasten Sydäntäin / Mennyt Toukokuu

Sydän Vasten Sydäntäin / Mennyt Toukokuu was released in 1991 on the independent Finnish label Vee-music. The single emerged during a period of modest activity for the label, which served as a niche outlet for Finnish schlager and pop music. Nina Valkama, a performer associated with the local scene of that era, recorded these tracks to fit the traditional Finnish radio format, focusing on melodic, emotive vocal performances typical of the regional production style of the early 1990s.

The design and production were characterized by the pragmatic constraints of small-scale independent labels, often utilizing minimalist sleeve photography and straightforward typography to keep costs low while ensuring the record was identifiable for jukeboxes and radio DJs. As a limited-run release, it was intended primarily for regional distribution and domestic radio airplay, and it remains a piece of contemporary Finnish pop history that reflects the aesthetic and industry standards of the Nordic music market at the time.
