Symphony No.9 From The New World = Aus Der Neuen Welt = Du Nouveau Monde

Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, composed in 1893 during his time as director of the National Conservatory of Music in New York, remains a cornerstone of the orchestral repertoire. The work reflects the composer's fascination with American melodies, including spirituals and Native American music, synthesized through the lens of his own Bohemian heritage. By the time this 1984 recording was released by Decca, the symphony was already firmly established as one of the most performed and studied compositions in Western classical music history.

This specific recording features the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir Georg Solti. Solti was renowned for his precision, high-energy interpretations, and long-standing partnership with the Decca label. The release is a prime example of the high-fidelity production standards of the 1980s, designed to capture the dynamic range and technical brilliance of one of the world's premier orchestras. Upon its release, it was well-received by critics and listeners alike as a definitive, technically immaculate account of a standard masterwork.
