Telli Gelin / Nana Gari

Released on the Fonoplak label under catalog number 215, this record captures the interplay of traditional Anatolian folk motifs and the evolving popular musical landscape of 1970s Turkey. Lami Ateş and Şaduman Yıldız were significant figures in the regional music scene, contributing to the era's flourishing tradition of 45-rpm singles that bridged the gap between rural folk heritage and modern studio arrangements. The recording reflects a period where local labels played a crucial role in documenting regional styles, often utilizing straightforward, evocative production techniques to highlight vocal delivery and traditional instrumentation.

The design and artistic direction of Fonoplak releases from this period typically focused on functional, minimalist aesthetics intended for rapid distribution in local markets. While specific design credits for this sleeve remain elusive, the visual style serves as a representative artifact of mid-century Turkish graphic production, prioritizing high-contrast typography and utilitarian layouts. The record was received at the time as a standard addition to the contemporary folk repertoire, though today it serves as a valuable document for ethnomusicologists interested in the transition of Turkish folk music into the recording age.
