Where it came from
Released in 2009 on the Swedish imprint G.A.M.M., this 7-inch record represents a specific moment in the late 2000s deep house and edits scene. The label, founded by Red Astaire, gained a reputation for reissuing obscure funk, soul, and disco tracks repurposed for contemporary dance floors. By focusing on high-quality re-edits, G.A.M.M. became a staple for DJs seeking floor-fillers that bridged the gap between vintage groove and modern club production.
The record features DJ Asparagus and Wipe The Needle, two figures closely associated with the label's aesthetic of warm, sample-heavy production. The release adheres to the label's signature house style, prioritizing rhythmic drive and classic soul vocal loops. Upon its arrival, the single was welcomed by vinyl enthusiasts and selectors who appreciated the label's commitment to maintaining a consistent, analog-leaning sound profile that fit seamlessly into late-night DJ sets.
