Released in the late 1960s by the Erato label, this recording is part of a definitive project to record the complete flute concertos of Antonio Vivaldi. Claudio Scimone and his ensemble, I Solisti Veneti, were instrumental in the period-informed revival of Vivaldi's work during this era, aiming to strip away the heavy, romanticized performance traditions of the past in favor of the rhythmic vitality and clarity inherent in the Venetian Baroque style.

The collaboration with French flautist Jean-Pierre Rampal was central to the success of this series.
