Where it came from
Released in the early 1970s, this compilation record was produced by the Landelijk Vietnamkomitee, a prominent Dutch organization dedicated to mobilizing support for the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam. The album served as a cultural instrument of solidarity, designed to raise both funds and awareness for the Vietnamese struggle against American military intervention. It emerged from a period of intense leftist activism in the Netherlands, where anti-war sentiment was heavily channeled through political art, music, and grassroots organizing.
The record features a collection of songs reflecting the revolutionary ethos of the time, emphasizing themes of anti-imperialism and international brotherhood. The design of the sleeve is functional and direct, typical of movement-based ephemera, prioritizing clear political messaging and the dissemination of the committee's goals over commercial aesthetic appeal. While it remains a niche historical artifact, it is well-regarded by collectors of protest music and political vinyl for its preservation of a specific ideological moment in European social history.
