Where it came from
Released in 1982 on the Century VII label, this compilation captures the vibrant local country music scene surrounding the Louisville radio station WAMZ. The album serves as a document of the 'Live at the Lemon Tree' concert series, a popular showcase for regional country artists during the early 1980s. It was produced to capitalize on the station's growing influence in the Kentucky country music market, preserving the raw, unpolished energy of live performances that defined the venue's atmosphere.
The album design reflects the modest, grassroots aesthetic common to regional radio-sponsored LPs of the era. The cover utilizes straightforward typography and photography intended to emphasize the 'real cowboy' brand promoted by WAMZ at the time. While the production was intended primarily for local distribution and promotion among the station's listener base, it remains a rare artifact for collectors interested in the specific intersection of local radio history and regional American country music during the early 1980s.
