Where it came from
Released in 1965 by the Dutch label Artone, this 45-rpm single represents a quintessential example of the mid-1960s Dutch variety and novelty music scene. It was produced during an era when local artists often bridged the gap between traditional cabaret and the emerging pop sound, catering to a domestic market that valued accessible, lighthearted material intended for radio play and jukebox circulation.
The record features Paula Dennis, a performer active in the Dutch entertainment industry during the mid-20th century. The songwriting and production choices reflect the era's focus on catchy, conversational lyrics paired with orchestral pop arrangements. While the specific recording remains a niche piece of archival pop, it stands as a historical artifact of Artone's efforts to cultivate a diverse roster of Dutch-language talent during the label's active years.
