Where it came from
Released in 1977 on the Telefunken label, Wie's Früher War...So Wird's Nie Wieder Sein stands as a quintessential entry in the discography of Ernst Mosch and his Original Egerländer Musikanten. During the 1970s, Mosch was the preeminent figure in German wind music, credited with elevating traditional Bohemian brass arrangements into a sophisticated, highly polished commercial sound that resonated deeply with post-war audiences looking for a sense of cultural continuity.
The album reflects the ensemble's signature focus on emotional nostalgia and technical precision, a style that defined the 'Egerländer' sound. Mosch, who acted as both bandleader and primary composer, designed his arrangements to emphasize the rich, melodic interplay between flugelhorns and clarinets. Upon its release, the record was well-received by a loyal fan base that viewed Mosch as a cultural steward, preserving the musical traditions of his homeland while maintaining a professional production standard that kept his music relevant on radio and television throughout German-speaking Europe.
