X-Form

Released in 1995 on the independent label Vertikal Records, the self-titled X-Form (2) record serves as a primary artifact of the mid-nineties underground electronic movement. The project emerged during a period of rapid experimentation within European techno and industrial circles, where producers sought to blend harsh synthetic textures with the evolving rhythms of the club scene. VRT 001 stands as the label's inaugural catalog entry, reflecting a commitment to raw, unpolished sound design that characterized much of the era's emerging underground output.

The design of this release leans into the minimalist aesthetic common among boutique electronic labels of the mid-nineties, prioritizing function and stark visual impact. By focusing on the structural interplay between frequency and cadence, the artists behind X-Form aimed to create an immersive, driving experience suited for warehouse environments. While the release remained a niche offering, it is noted by collectors for its role in establishing the Vertikal Records sonic identity, representing a snapshot of a time when the boundaries of dance music were being aggressively redefined by hardware-heavy production techniques.
