Страницы Русской Поэзии XVIII-XX вв.

Released by the state-owned Melodiya label in 1982, this recording is part of a broader series dedicated to archiving the canon of Russian literature. By the early 1980s, the Soviet cultural establishment placed significant emphasis on the preservation and dissemination of classical verse through audio media, aiming to make the works of poets like Alexander Radishchev and Gavrila Derzhavin accessible to a wide domestic audience as part of a national educational initiative.

The production follows the standard aesthetic and technical conventions of Melodiya's literary series, which prioritized clarity of recitation and authoritative interpretation. These recordings were often intended for use in academic settings or for the personal collections of literature enthusiasts, serving as a formal, traditional presentation of Russian poetic history that emphasized the stature and intellectual legacy of its featured 18th and 19th-century authors.
