Where it came from
Released in 1990 under the Condor label, this 45 RPM single represents the landscape of Ecuadorian popular music during the late twentieth century. Condor was a prolific label known for documenting regional artists, providing a platform for performers like Bolivar Alcides to distribute their work to local audiences who sought out the latest sounds in tropical and romantic music.
The record features two tracks, 'Y Que Mas Quieres' and 'Cuantas Veces Yo Quiera,' which align with the stylistic conventions of the era’s Latin romantic balladry. The design and production reflect the modest, functional aesthetic typical of independent regional record labels at the time, prioritizing accessibility for jukebox operators and local radio play over elaborate cover art or high-budget marketing campaigns.
