Yah Mean / Yes, Yes, Ya'll

Released in 2000 on Schoolly D's own PSK Records label, this 12-inch single represents a later chapter in the career of the Philadelphia hip-hop pioneer. By the turn of the millennium, Schoolly D had long established himself as a foundational figure in the development of gangsta rap, characterized by his stark, minimalist production and aggressive, narrative-driven lyrical style. This release reflects the artist's independent spirit as he continued to curate his own output well outside the major label infrastructure.

The record draws on the gritty, street-oriented aesthetic that defined Schoolly D's work throughout the 1980s and 1990s. While he is most often celebrated for his seminal mid-80s output, this particular release served to maintain his presence within the underground hip-hop circuit during a transitional era for the genre. The design and presentation prioritize the raw, no-frills identity associated with the PSK Records brand, favoring directness over the increasingly elaborate packaging common to larger commercial releases of that period.
