Released in 1989 on the independent Jasmine Records label, this 12-inch single represents the gritty, grassroots landscape of late-80s hip-hop. Emerging from the underground scene during a period when the genre was rapidly diversifying its sound, the collaboration between Scientific-I and Grand Wizard Deadly T serves as a snapshot of the era's regional production styles and the DIY ethos that defined independent rap music before the industry became fully dominated by major label infrastructure.

The record follows the aesthetic conventions of late-80s boom-bap, prioritizing stark drum patterns and raw lyrical delivery typical of the New York-adjacent independent circuit. As a catalog entry for Jasmine Records, it reflects the efforts of smaller distributors to capture the evolving energy of street-level hip-hop. The work is widely regarded by collectors as a localized artifact, appreciated more for its historical preservation of underground talent than for widespread commercial design innovation.
