Amphibian Beast

Amphibian Beast was introduced as part of the Labyrinth of Nightmare booster set, released internationally in early 2003. This set served as the fourth main expansion for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in English, following the established trend of Konami adapting Japanese OCG content for a global audience. As a normal monster, the card was designed to populate the lower tiers of gameplay, intended for deck building at the hobbyist level rather than competitive tournament play.

The artwork reflects the distinct aesthetic direction of Kazuki Takahashi’s creature designs, which often blended mythological influences with industrial or biological modifications. Like many early-era cards, the illustration emphasizes a dark, atmospheric tone consistent with the Labyrinth of Nightmare's spooky, underworld-inspired theme. While the card did not leave a significant mark on the competitive meta, it remains a nostalgic touchstone for collectors who began their journey during the initial growth phase of the game.
