Ancient Gear Catapult

Ancient Gear Catapult is a spell card that debuted in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, initially appearing as an Ultra Rare in the Raging Tempest booster set before being reprinted as a common in the Legendary Duelists: Season 1 collection. The card was designed to support the Ancient Gear archetype, a fan-favorite series of machine-type monsters famously utilized by the character Dr. Crowler in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX animated series. Its mechanics reflect the aggressive, gear-themed aesthetic of the deck, allowing players to destroy their own cards to summon powerful Ancient Gear monsters directly from the deck, thereby accelerating the game state to match the destructive nature of the theme.

The artwork and design language of the card draw heavily from the industrial, Victorian-steampunk motifs established by creator Kazuki Takahashi for the Ancient Gear line. By providing a low-rarity, accessible printing in Legendary Duelists: Season 1, the card became a staple for budget-conscious players looking to build coherent archetype decks. It is widely viewed by the community as a vital utility card, praised for its ability to bypass high tribute costs while simultaneously triggering beneficial effects linked to the destruction of other Ancient Gear cards on the field.
