Provenance

Where it came from

And the Band Played On was originally released in the 2014 Primal Origin booster set before being reprinted as a common in the 2015 Mega-Tin Mega Pack. Designed for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, the card serves as a restrictive floodgate intended to disrupt strategies that rely on summoning multiple monsters of the same level or rank, forcing players to adapt their playstyles to navigate its limitations.

The card's artwork and name draw inspiration from the historical phrase often associated with the musicians on the RMS Titanic. In the game's meta-context, it was designed by Konami as a tactical tool to counter high-speed deck archetypes. It has been received by players as a niche but effective side-deck option, valued for its ability to stifle explosive plays during high-stakes competitive matches.
