Provenance

Where it came from

The Aquamirror Illusion card was released in the North American TCG market as part of the Hidden Arsenal 6: Omega Xyz booster set, which hit shelves in early 2013. This set was designed to bring the Gishki archetype—a ritual-focused deck utilizing water-attribute monsters—into the broader competitive landscape. The card serves as a thematic support piece, reflecting the mystical lore of the Gishki tribe as they harness forbidden rituals to mirror and manifest their strength.

The design of the card leans into the aesthetics of the Hidden Arsenal series, which frequently imported high-rarity Japanese OCG cards into the West using a distinct foil process. The illustration depicts the watery, reflective essence central to the Gishki theme, consistent with the set's broader visual identity. Upon release, it was primarily utilized by players focusing on dedicated ritual summoning strategies, rather than seeing widespread play in meta-dominant decks of that era.
