Armored Lizard

Armored Lizard was released as part of the Metal Raiders booster set, which debuted in the North American market in 2002. As one of the early expansions for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, Metal Raiders served to broaden the initial card pool, introducing a variety of earth-attribute monsters and support spells that defined the early competitive landscape. The card represents a standard lower-level monster common to the game's initial design philosophy of building deck synergy through simple creature types.

The visual design of Armored Lizard follows the aesthetic established by Kazuki Takahashi’s original manga illustrations, emphasizing a fantastical creature armored in plating. Like many common cards in the MRD set, its design was intended to provide accessible deck-building fodder, ensuring that players had a diverse range of creatures to summon while exploring the game's core mechanics. It remains a notable piece for collectors focusing on the formative years of the TCG.
