Artifact Durendal

Artifact Durendal was originally released in the 2015 Mega-Tin Mega Pack, a compilation set designed to reprint high-value cards from the preceding year's core booster sets. This specific card originated from the 'Primal Origin' expansion, where the Artifact archetype was introduced. The design draws inspiration from the legendary sword Durendal of French literature, reimagined here as a spectral, ethereal blade wielded by an Xyz monster.

The card's design features the signature aesthetic of the Artifact archetype, which emphasizes glowing, translucent spectral figures that function both as monsters and as trap cards. Upon its release, it was lauded by the competitive community for its utility, specifically its ability to disrupt an opponent's strategy by forcing a re-draw of their hand or altering the target of card effects. It has remained a staple utility card due to its versatile disruption capabilities in various formats.
