Artifact Lancea

Artifact Lancea was introduced in the Duelist Alliance booster set, released in 2014. It belongs to the Artifact archetype, a series of light-attribute fairy monsters themed around ancient mythological weapons that can be set in the spell and trap card zone before being special summoned during the opponent's turn. The design aesthetic centers on crystalline, ethereal weaponry, reflecting the theme of spectral relics manifesting on the battlefield.

The card was designed to function as a powerful disruption tool, specifically intended to counter strategies reliant on banishing cards. By allowing a player to tribute it from the field or hand to prevent either player from banishing cards for the remainder of the turn, it became a staple side-deck card in competitive play. Its reception remains defined by its utility as a high-impact tech choice against decks that revolve around graveyard interactions or banishing resources.
