Artifact Lancea

Artifact Lancea was introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the 2019 set Battles of Legend: Hero's Revenge. The card belongs to the Artifact archetype, a series of light-attribute monsters designed with a unique gimmick: they can be set in the spell and trap zone and special summoned during the opponent's turn when destroyed. This design reflects a tactical, reactive playstyle that rewards players for baiting their opponents into removing backrow cards.

The card was illustrated to fit the thematic aesthetic of the Artifact series, which features crystalline, weaponized motifs meant to evoke ancient, enchanted relics. As a secret rare in the BLHR set, it gained significant traction in the competitive meta due to its powerful effect that prevents players from banishing cards. Its ability to disrupt popular strategies that rely on the banish zone cemented its status as a staple side-deck choice for players looking to counter specific high-tier deck types.
