Bacon Saver

Bacon Saver was introduced in the 2013 Cosmo Blazer booster set, a core expansion for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game that focused heavily on the Brotherhood of the Fire Fist and Mermail archetypes. As an effect monster, it was designed to provide defensive utility to Zombie-type decks, allowing players to negate an attack by banishing the card from their graveyard. This mechanic reflects the recurring theme of utilizing the graveyard as a secondary resource pool, which has been a foundational strategy in the game's competitive history.

The card features artwork that humorously subverts the typical dark or heroic aesthetic of the Zombie monster category, depicting a literal slice of anthropomorphized bacon acting as a shield. It was designed to add a layer of levity to the set while offering players a practical, low-rarity utility card. Upon its release, it was well-received by budget-conscious duelists for its effectiveness in niche defensive strategies, remaining a stable, if common, utility piece within the broader Yu-Gi-Oh! ecosystem.
