Where it came from
Bahamut Shark was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in 2012 as part of the Return of the Duelist set. As a Rank 4 Xyz Monster, it was designed to support Water-attribute decks by allowing players to special summon lower-rank monsters directly from the Extra Deck, a mechanic that defined its utility in competitive play for years. Its aesthetic features a mechanical, aquatic dragon, consistent with the intricate, high-fantasy art direction established by Konami’s design team for the Abyss-themed archetypes.
The version appearing in the 25th Anniversary Tin: Dueling Mirrors, numbered MP24-EN036, serves as a commemorative reprint. This release was part of a larger initiative to celebrate a quarter-century of the card game by reissuing high-demand and tournament-staple cards in a premium Secret Rare foil treatment. Collectors and players often seek out these tin reprints for the updated card frame and the reflective finish that distinguishes them from their original, often more muted, printings.
