Bait Doll

Bait Doll was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the Pharaoh's Servant expansion in 2002. Designed as a strategic utility spell, the card serves to force the activation of a set spell or trap card, compelling the opponent to reveal and potentially resolve it prematurely. This mechanical design aimed to provide players with a way to scout backrow defenses and clear potential threats before committing to a larger play, reflecting the early TCG emphasis on tactical baiting and hand-knowledge management.

The card saw a reprint in Battle Pack: Epic Dawn in 2012, appearing as a common card within a set specifically curated for a limited-draft play environment. In this context, the card functioned as a versatile tool for sealed play, where individual card power was often secondary to the ability to disrupt an opponent's set traps. While it has never occupied a central role in high-level competitive meta-decks, its utility remains a recognized staple of the game's tactical history, valued by collectors for its role in the foundational library of spell cards.
