Bait Doll

Bait Doll was first released in the Labyrinth of Nightmare expansion in 2002, marking the transition of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game into its early competitive maturity. Designed as a Normal Spell, its mechanics reflect the game's initial focus on trap-heavy control decks, providing a specific utility to force the activation of face-down cards to mitigate risks before committing monsters to the field.

The card’s design features a whimsical, ventriloquist-style puppet, capturing the playful yet slightly eerie aesthetic prevalent in early Konami card artwork. While it was widely available as a common rarity, it became a staple of period-appropriate side decks for players aiming to counter disruptive trap cards, illustrating a specific era of gameplay where proactive removal of hidden threats was a primary strategic concern.
